JON SEELOW: ABANDONED
In the Loupe: Underground Series
Are you ready to see the Capital Region like you’ve never seen it before? Here are some forgotten places left for dead. While some say “what a shame, knock it down”, adventurers and photographers see prized opportunities for exploration and art. These underground gems create simply awesome images. Those who love industrial, metal, graffiti and the abandoned are going to love this impressive photography series from local Jon Seelow. I’ll let him tell you his story…
My name is Jon Seelow and I'm a photographer based out of Amsterdam, NY. So this is where I'm supposed to say I grew up with a camera in my hand, well that's not the case. I picked up a camera for the first time a few years ago and quickly realized there is more to it than just pointing and clicking the shutter. I then set my sights to learning and practicing the art of photography. There is more than just taking the photos and posting them on the web. It takes vast amount of time to learn the ways of the light, get the proper gear and keep up with the latest post processing and software. For me it will be a never ending love obsession.
YEAR IN MUSIC
Year In Music: Cap City-Style
Welcome to a special feature at In the Loupe. The Capital Region has some great venues to check out the music scene. Whether it be bars, nightclubs, local theaters or large concert arenas. We get to see touring bands, from newer bands to some of the biggest names in the biz. You want to know who sees even more. The rockstar photographers from our Cap Cities. And they get the good seats!
These guys capture the bands rolling through the area and some even get to travel to live out their passion and take some pretty intense photos while at it. This is an extremely talented group of locals and a couple past locals that moved away and are taking advantage of even larger stages. From December 15, 2015 - January 15, 2016 we will be showcasing the work of Jenn Curtis, Trudi Hargis, Bryan Lasky, Yuliya Peshkova, Chad Wadsworth (now living in Austin, TX) and Julia Zave (now living in San Francisco, CA).
So... let's not waste any more time and join these lucky, but hard-working music fanatics! Every loupe has a center point, and this website figures to be just that when it comes to the creative industries of Upstate NY.

M.A.P. GRAPHICS: FIRE IT UP
Before looking at this series, may I recommend going through your CD collection and throwing on Prodigy's "Fire Starter." Get fired up, because these shots are hotttttttttt!!! I'll let the photographer take it from here...
My name is Michael A Panzarino, I own and operate M.A.P. Graphics.
Six years ago, I was introduced to an eclectic group of talented young people. They are "professional fire performers." Over these years, I have had the opportunity to shoot people eating, breathing, spinning, and fleshing with FIRE.
We have shot at Jennings Landing, abandoned warehouses, dead track train tunnels and anywhere else they can safely show off their UNIQUE art form. There are various props used by these interesting people: poi, single staff, dragon staff, fire hoops, and fire fans to name a few.
Please enjoy my collection of photos that I am proud to say are being "showcased" here at In the Loupe.
Thank You Mike Schinnerer for this great privilege.
